People seeking asylum are at the heart of our purpose. We work with people seeking asylum so they have the support they need to make their own life in Australia while waiting for their claim for protection to be recognised.
We rely on philanthropic donations and fundraising, some state government support, a dedicated team of professional staff and a network of hundreds of volunteers to undertake our work.
The successful candidate will join a supported, motivated, energetic and compassionate team of staff who work together to deliver vital services, engage our community and influence policy and legal change for people seeking asylum.
Our Welcome and Registration team is the first point of contact for our organisation and provides a warm welcome to all at our Centre. This role supports the Centre's front-of-house operations through direct reception and administrative support. The role works closely with a fantastic team of dedicated volunteers and reports to the Team Leader.
We are looking for a highly organised people person to support the team operations and improve efficiencies in support services. This role is a 12-month contract, 3 days per week, and is based at our Centre in Newtown.
This role needs someone with great communication and organisational skills. Your capabilities will include a strong customer service focus, able to work in a busy environment, and balancing competing priorities.
The ideal person will have experience in working with communities and will be able to communicate clearly with people to assess their needs and connect them to services and support. You will be tech-savvy to capture information accurately in our systems and CRM, adaptable to address changing priorities, and offer a warm, friendly approach to welcoming all people to our Centre.
