Intensive Support Coordinators x2

Asylum Seekers Centre

Since 1993, the Asylum Seekers Centre (ASC) in Sydney has provided a place of welcome, practical and personal support for people living in the community who are seeking asylum.

The role

The ASC's Intensive Support team provides short to medium term case coordination that is culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed and strengths based.

Intensive Support Coordinators use a person centred approach to work with people seeking asylum and support them to identify goals, and address issues that may be an obstacle to their self-development and independence.

As part of a multifaceted Services and Engagement team, Intensive Support Coordinators provide holistic case management for people with complex needs and situations. These can include issues of homelessness, mental illness, family disruption and AOD concerns.

In response to the increased needs we are seeing, these are two new full-time positions available, both for a fixed term of 12 months.

About you

  • Degree qualification or higher education qualifications in human services, social work, mental health or other relevant discipline
  • Experience in coordinating support and goal planning for people with complex needs
  • Demonstrated experience in working within a case management framework, in areas such as homelessness, mental health, trauma-informed care and/or AOD, including causality, presenting issues, and relevant legislation
  • Can foster a culture of respect for client dignity and excellence in service delivery
  • Able to remain calm, focused and maintain perspective when faced with change, crisis and difficulty

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ASC continues to adapt to deliver services differently. The successful candidates must be flexible to work from the office or work remotely as necessary.
