About the role

Kalano Flexible Care facility cares for up to 16 permanent and 2 respite Flexible Care residents for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents of the Katherine Region. Personal Care Attendants ensure residents are provided with assistance to achieve maximum independence, providing culturally appropriate and high quality care to the residents. The PCA will improve and support life activities for residents ensuring enjoyment, safety and comfort levels are maintained at all times.

Hours are casual and will involve morning, afternoon and night shifts.

What you will bring

• Understanding of issues relating to the care of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander frail and elderly people and experience in providing services and supports for them
• Excellent customer service manner and proven skills in dealing with indigenous persons
• Previous experience of delivering a range of personal care supports within the aged care industry
• High level communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written
• A drivers licence is desirable
• Certificate lll in Aged Care and First Aid Certificate or agreement to commence training within 3 months
• A current Ochre card, or ability to obtain prior to employment is a mandatory requirement
