The Australian Childhood Foundation have an opportunity for a Senior Child and Family Counsellor to join the team. This pivotal role will be delivering trauma-informed therapeutic services to children and women impacted by family and domestic violence. This role involves providing individual counselling, parent/child therapeutic support, and direct counselling to women and mothers to promote recovery and healing from the effects of trauma and violence.
The position emphasises both individual and group-based interventions, supporting dyadic therapeutic work that strengthens parent-child relationships. The counsellor will also support group programs for children, young people, and their mothers, fostering resilience, connection, and recovery in a safe and supportive environment.
The Senior Counsellor will work in collaboration with other agencies and key stakeholders, where appropriate, to maintain and ensure the effectiveness of the programs for families receiving a service.
The City of Stirling is the lead organisation for the Naala Djookan Healing Centre along with Naala Djookan Healing Centre Consortium Members, Australian Childhood Foundation, Ebenezer Aboriginal Corporation, Ishar Multicultural Women's Health Services, Karla Kuliny Aboriginal Corporation, Legal Aid Commission of WA, MercyCare, Multicultural Services Centre WA, Northern Suburbs Community Legal Centre and Wadjak Northside Aboriginal Corporation.
The City of Stirling and Consortium Members, funded by the Department of Communities deliver an integrated, specialist service that supports women, children and families at risk of or experiencing family and domestic violence (FDV), to access the support and assistance they require to promote safe, healthy relationships and overall wellbeing. Naala Djookan Healing Centre plays a key role in providing support to women and children, throughout their journey. The Healing Centre simplifies access to specialist FDV and other support services through a range of integrated and specialist evidence-based services in one safe, inclusive, culturally responsive and welcoming location.
