The Australian Childhood Foundation has a strong reputation for delivery of therapeutic services, professional training and secondary consultation built upon up-to-date evidence-based theoretical frameworks including the neurobiology of trauma, attachment and relational theories, and child development. This theoretical framework provides the foundation upon which all elements of care and intervention are provided by the Foundations Therapeutic Services.
Back on Track is a Northern Territory government initiative that provides an alternative to detention and other pathways to divert young people away from the youth justice system. ACF along with a range of other service providers is funded to provide assessment, case management, support, restorative justice, and education programs for young people referred to the program.
ACF is responsible for the assessment and case management and therapeutic support of all young people aged 8 – 17 years involved in the Back on Track program in the Greater Darwin, Tennant Creek, Nhulunbuy, and Katherine regions. Police, government agencies, and non-government agencies as well as the court system will be able to refer young people to the program.
The Senior Clinician will be responsible for undertaking specialist assessment and case management for all young people referred to the program. Direct therapeutic work with young people will also be provided where indicated in the assessment. The position will work in partnership with Aboriginal Liaison and Support Workers who will assist with locating families, brokering critical cultural and community knowledge, and contributing to the assessment and case management.
