The Australian Childhood Foundation has a strong reputation for delivery of clinical services, professional training and secondary consultation programs built on up to date evidence and based upon theoretical frameworks including the neurobiology of trauma, attachment and relational theories and child development. This theoretical framework provides the foundation upon which all elements of care and intervention are provided by the therapeutic care programs.

The opportunity:

The Team Leader will provide effective support and supervision to our dedicated Therapeutic Specialists in the program while also working in collaboration with the government and other non-government organisations.

The Team Leader, in collaboration with the statewide Program Manager, will be responsible for the development and delivery of high quality counselling programs including providing family violence counselling to children, young people and their families, training programs and the provision of consultation, support and strategic advice to carers, non-government and government staff caring for or working with children and young people in out of home care.

If successful you will also be responsible for implementing quality assurance and program development measures to ensure the program performance remains of a high quality and reflective of best practice in therapeutic care.

The Team Leader will be expected to travel on occasion both intra and inter-state.

About the role:

We are seeking a collaborative Team Leader who will lead and supervise a small team of Therapeutic Specialists in our Hobart office. You will be working closely with the Program Manager to ensure the development and delivery of high quality therapeutic programs, as well providing expert advice to key stakeholders.

As the Team Leader you will be responsible for the key areas of:

  • Supervision
  • Program development, implementation and review
  • Training in Trauma and Therapeutic Care
  • Specialist therapeutic support and advice
  • Advocacy, research and training

About you:

  • A well-developed ability to assist others to understand the implications of Trauma and Attachment theories and their relationship to addressing the needs of traumatised children and young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direct service in the clinical assessment and treatment of children, young people and families.
  • Ability to understand and manage the complexities inherent in working in a home based care setting, including flexibility in meeting the needs of carers and the care team.
  • Substantial experience in the area of child abuse and/or in working with traumatised children.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively and the capacity to negotiate and liaise with volunteers including carers, government departments, other agencies and the community.
  • A sophisticated understanding of the complexity of the service system and the issues involved in providing services to statutory clients.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a learning culture and continuous improvement.
  • A current Tasmanian driver’s licence or equivalent.
  • A current Working with Vulnerable Persons check or equivalent.

Remuneration & Benefits:
