The Position

The Australian Greens are seeking a person to join our national team to add to our capacity for data management, reporting and analysis across our systems covering contact management, fundraising, mass communications, volunteer management and voter engagement.

This position will help to service the needs of relevant teams in providing the data they need to implement their projects and report on the impacts and effectiveness of those projects.

About you

You have relevant qualifications and experience with SQL and database systems such as MySQL and PostgreSQL to identify, collect and organise data for operational purposes and for analysis to extract meaningful insights.

You are experienced in producing reports on data to facilitate data-driven decision making.

You have strong communication skills and care about providing responsive and professional support to our project teams.

You are passionate about creating change and building a strong progressive movement.

Expectations

  • Use SQL and other data management processes to operationalise volunteer, voter, finance and communications strategies.
  • Improve on the tools and processes used to work with available data sets for operational and reporting purposes.
  • Use and maintain a data reporting and visualisation solution to deliver information and insights into trends and patterns from available data sets.
  • Engage in the workplace according to the organisational values described below.
  • Undertake other tasks as reasonably directed.

Selection Criteria

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Greens’ principles.
  • Experience in the use of database systems such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong skills and experience in writing sophisticated and performant SQL.
  • Understanding of ETL concepts and processes.
  • Experience with reporting and data visualisation tools such as Apache Superset, PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills — the ability to write and speak clearly to effectively communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand.
  • A demonstrable commitment to learning and sharing of knowledge.
  • An appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa (if applicable).

Bonus points for

  • Analytical skills for identifying trends, patterns, and insights from data.
  • Experience with the Party’s systems including Rocket, gVIRS, Drupal and CiviCRM.

Relationship to Others

Management supervision by: National Manager

Works closely with: The National IT team and other staff across the Party

Location

The base of activity for this position is negotiable with the National Manager.

Conditions

This position will be for three to five days per week depending on the availability of the person appointed (full-time over five days is 38 hours per week) for a fixed period to 17 June 2022. Continuation of this position, on the same or amended terms, may be possible subject to available funding.

The position is subject to the conditions of the “The Australian Greens Staff Collective Agreement”.

The classification for this position is Support 2 with the salary commencing at Level 5 for $84,133 pro rata, plus 10% superannuation.
