We are hiring for the next elections, with the federal election expected between August 2021 and May 2022 and the state election in March 2022.

About The Role

We are looking for two passionate, organised and experienced campaigners to join The Greens SA campaign team as our Organisers. These roles will work with campaign teams to achieve our overall goals for the Federal and State Elections, and join the election staff team. The Organisers will grow our volunteer movement and be instrumental in campaign teams achieving their goals. They will be a key point of contact for campaign teams and volunteers. This is an exciting role for a passionate and driven campaigner who wants to grow our Green movement.

Classification: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award , level 3 ($31.75/h)

Primary location: Greens SA Office, 7/291 Angas St, Adelaide

Job status: It is anticipated that this role will start at 22.8 hours (3 days) a week on a part-time contract, moving to full time closer to the election. A later start time at more hours per week is also possible.

Hours: To be negotiated. The position will involve some out of hours work and work on weekends. TOIL will be offered in accordance with the award.

Reports to: Lead Organiser

Position Begins: 1 June 2021

Primary Responsibilities

The roles and duties will change as the election campaign progresses and the successful applicant will be able to adapt with the changing environment.

Essential duties will include:

  • Work with the lead organiser to:

    • Recruit and train volunteers to cover pre-poll and polling booths across two elections

    • Help teams and branches to implement campaign plans, and to achieve their goals and targets

    • Help recruit, train and retain volunteers

    • Deliver training events and training resources, including; large scale (state-wide) group training, small groups, one-to-one, online, ad-hoc, pre-recorded and written manuals

    • Coordinate Greens SA events and assist field activities

    • Help identify issues, and problem solve to maintain cohesive teams

    • Offer support to campaign teams on the ground, in person, over the phone, by email, Zoom and other platforms where necessary

    • Offer support to campaign teams, office volunteers and The Greens SA volunteers in order to grow our volunteer movement across the state

    • Support volunteers with our online systems

    • Troubleshoot technical issues

    • Other tasks as required

General Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the SA election team to ensure delivery of the state-wide election goals as set out in our ‘one campaign two elections’ strategy.

  • Compile a report and recommendations for this role at the end of the election campaign for the benefit of future election campaigns

  • Work in accordance with The Greens SA policies and practices.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Your Skills & Experience

Please address the following selection criteria by providing examples of how you have demonstrated the points below in your previous working or volunteering experience.

  • Understanding of and commitment to Greens principles

  • Experience campaigning with a political party or advocacy organisation.

  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage people and logistics to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in field organising and mobilising, working with people at a grassroots level to achieve agreed goals.

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a team environment, including strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multitask, create and achieve goals, meet deadlines and be reactive to creatively solve problems that arise.
