This is an exciting full-time role for a passionate and driven campaign manager who wants to grow our Green movement. The SA Greens have a good chance of putting our Lead Senate Candidate, Barbara Pocock, into the Senate alongside Senator Sarah Hanson-Young at the upcoming federal election. We are seeking a Senate Campaign Manager who will strategically advise and support our Senate candidate, and help lead the implementation of our campaign strategy. This position offers the opportunity to work on a dynamic campaign, joining a strong campaign team working across both state and federal elections in 2021/22.

Over the last thirty years, The Greens have become the third force in Australian politics. Across Australia, there are Greens members elected at every level of government. We are hiring for the next elections, with the federal election expected between August 2021 and May 2022 and the state election in March 2022.

Position Description

  • Support the lead Senate Candidate to:
    • Implement, review, and refine campaign strategy;
    • Conduct outreach to community groups;
    • Attend community and election related events;
    • Achieve fundraising goals
  • Act as Executive Officer of the Federal Election Campaign Committee (FECC), overseeing the setting of agendas, taking and archiving of minutes, ensuring action on key decisions, and formulation of regular reports to the overall Election Campaign Committee (ECC).
  • Implement Senate campaign strategy as outlined by ECC/FECC:
    • Develop a project management plan;
    • Regularly evaluate and review progress on senate campaign goals, tasks, budget and resources, adjusting the overall plan as necessary;
    • Report on project management to FECC.
  • Plan and execute campaign events for lead Senate Candidate with a focus on volunteer recruitment for polling booths.
  • Assist in training and development of key campaign volunteers including lower house candidates.
  • Prepare a final Senate Campaign Manager campaign review.
  • Other duties as directed.

Key relationships

  • Support the work of lead Senate Candidate.
  • Work as a part of the campaign team to oversee day to day campaign roll out.
  • Regularly liaise with Senator Hanson-Young, Legislative Council offices, and SECC on candidate support, events, community outreach and any other relevant issues.
  • Liaise with lower house candidates and branch campaign committees to connect branches with lead Senate Candidate.
  • Work closely with other campaign staff on fulfilling campaign strategy, particularly campaign events for volunteer recruitment and volunteer training and development.

Employment arrangements

The Senate Campaign Manager will work under the professional day-to-day direction of the lead Senate candidate, with administrative and HR responsibilities to the Campaign Director.

Some out of hours work and regional travel may be required. The position is to be filled at ASU Level 5, Step 1. Annual increments will apply.

Primary location: Greens SA Office, 7/291 Angas St, Adelaide
