About the Role

Our Cairns team have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join and collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team to provide quality centre-based and outreach education & therapy support services to children and adults on the autism spectrum and their families.

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for leading and participating in meetings with relevant stakeholders and families to collaboratively identify specific strategies, addressing individualised support needs, and prepare, facilitate and maintain a range of assessments including Functional Behaviour Assessments, observation and progress reports as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy (or close to completion)
  • Current professional registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary methodologies in the provision of intervention services to children and adults on the autism spectrum
  • Ability to meet criteria to practice at a Core level against the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
  • Proven ability to work effectively with families and collaboratively within a trans-disciplinary team and excellent verbal and written communication.

Special Conditions & Requirements 

  • Evidence of current Covid-19 Vaccination
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (paid workers)**
  • Provide First Aid inc. Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
