We’re looking for a Digital Archivist Officer who can volunteer and live in Tonga for 12 months. Join the Australian Volunteers Program to contribute to sustainable development in the Pacific.

About the Partner Organisation:  

The Governor is the Representative of His Majesty the King in Vava’u and the Office of the Governor represents his Majesty’s Government. The Governor reports directly to the Prime Minister. The governor’s office in Vava’u is needing support to help digitise their manual files. A Digital Archivist Officer would help to convert all the files, especially the legal land documents, to electronic copies. The volunteer will be tasked with building staff capacity through training them in best practice in digital archiving to ensure sustainability of the process.

 About the Position: 

  • You’ll be working with staff to digitise the governors’ office files and increase the staff capability to support that into the future.
  • You’ll need professional qualifications in Office Management, Business Administration, Information Management or a related field with a minimum of 3 years experience in office information management including filing systems and the digitisation process.
  •  You’ll have the opportunity to work in a cross-cultural environment supporting the staff and the government in Tonga.
