Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research (PNGIMR) was established by a legislative act in 1968 as a Statutory Authority. The institute is the only national health and medical research institute in the Pacific region. It's research has led to significant break-throughs in the understanding, prevention and treatment of diseases including pneumonia, lymphatic filariasis, malaria, HIV/AIDS, cervical cancer and kuru. Research is currently done through four research units: immunology & infection; public health and demography; sexual and reproductive health; and vector-borne diseases. PNGIMR is the national testing centre for influenza and COVID-19. There is a growing cohort of Papua New Guinea scientists with PhDs are gaining PhD and returning to PNGIMR to lead research.
This assignment will provide mentoring to the multimedia officer. This may include providing support and feedback on design options, joint problem solving on technical or design issues and introductions to online forums, networks and other ongoing professional support.
