Established in 2017, Ballarat Frolic Festival is a volunteer-run organisation that holds an annual arts and culture pride festival in the regional city of Ballarat celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and asexual (LGBTIQA+) artists, art, and culture.
Our values are social justice, respect, inclusion, and connection; and these are at the heart of how we operate as an organisation and within the community.
Our vision is an inclusive Ballarat where LGBTIQA+ people feel safe, connected and proud; and our contributions to art, culture and community are celebrated.
Our organisational goals are:
Ballarat Frolic Festival is establishing a new Advisory Board as part of a restructure as we look to expand our festival into a twice yearly event.
Board members will provide advice on the implementation of Ballarat Frolic Festival’s organisational goals and support the Festival Directors with the delivery of the festival.

Responsibilities of Board members include, but are not limited to:

Note: We know that it’s easy to talk yourself out of applying for a role if you don’t fit the majority of criteria - especially if you’re young, LGBTIQA+, a person with a disability, a woman, non-binary, and/or a person of colour. We strongly encourage you to apply if you are interested, as we are looking for diverse representation and experience, and don’t expect everyone will meet all criteria.
We are seeking positive, community-connected individuals based in Victoria who are over the age of 18, have diverse lived-experience and are passionate about being a part of a team.
Applicants with experience of living in Ballarat, or a regional or rural area will be looked upon favourably but this is not a strict requirement.
Must have skills:
Highly sought after skills:
Our current team balances full-time jobs and family responsibilities, so we understand that volunteer roles complement other responsibilities.
The Advisory Board will meet face-to-face in Ballarat six times a year. Board meetings will occur during the day on the weekend - with dates set for the calendar year in advance. Meetings will go for approximately 2-4 hours. Catering will be provided, and assistance with travel or billeting may be provided if required.
Attendance at all Advisory Board meetings and roughly 4-8 hours a month to attend sub-committee meetings and/or carry out necessary tasks is required.
If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you!
