About the Role:

The Adolescent Family Violence Program (AFVP) provides therapeutic case management support to young people who are using violence within the context of their family. The therapeutic case manager is responsible for delivering trauma-informed effective interventions through assertive outreach with young people and increasing the safety of affected family members. The therapeutic case manager will also be responsible for addressing issues that relate to the young person's use of violence such as, risk of homelessness, disengagement from school, drug and alcohol misuse and mental health vulnerability through the case management response and appropriate referrals.

This position provides short-term case management intervention with young people, incorporating comprehensive safety and wellbeing assessments, development of case plans aimed at therapeutic intervention with the young person and their family.

Duties, Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or Psychology or relevant experience
  • Experience in working in the Children, Youth and Families and Family Violence sectors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the needs of children, vulnerable people and people with a disability; people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background; and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Participate in and contribute to program development and innovation.
  • Comply with relevant legislation and Baptcare and DHHS policies and procedures.
  • Participate in and contribute to program development and innovation.
  • Commitment to children's safety and best interests, and duty of care in the prevention, identification and response to child abuse
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining positive working relationships with Child Protection Services and other professionals and families in challenging situations
  • Understanding of and ability to apply therapeutic models and theories around trauma and child development that enable positive change and demonstrated ability to apply these in practice
