  • Competitive Salary: $78,462 pro-rata + 11% superannuation
  • Location: Council Offices in Sandringham as well as community facilities and some flexibility to work from home.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity to optimise the wellbeing and resilience of older people, people with a disability, carers of all ages and people experiencing vulnerability through the delivery of information, programs and events that support their engagement and participation in all aspects of community life. Utilising a community development approach, the role will implement a range of initiatives by paid staff and volunteers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Optimising the wellbeing of residents through enhanced social connectedness.
  • Developing and delivering programs and events that meet the needs of the community.
  • Ensuring that residents' socialisation needs are met.
  • Provision of accurate and easily accessible information.
  • Building relationships across Council departments and with a range of external stakeholders.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in community development, health sciences or a related field is desirable. A lesser or no qualification is acceptable if a minimum of 12 months relevant experience can be demonstrated.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in community development work.
  • Understanding of Community Services and the role of Council in supporting services for people experiencing isolation and/or vulnerability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to facilitate and lead activities and programs.
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills

Mandatory pre-employment requirements

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check 
  • Be fully vaccinated with at least two approved COVID-19 vaccines or have proof of medical exemption, in accordance with Council's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
