The Program Administration Worker will support a team of four Case Managers in conducting, visits, transports and administrative tasks in the Mutjang bupuwingarrak mukman program (a Dja Dja Wurrung name meaning “keeping our kids safe”) as it promotes the safety, stability and development of Aboriginal children authorised to BDAC under Section 18 of the Children’s, Youth and Families Act 2005.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Administration support to the Mutjang bupuwingarrak mukman program as required.
  • Undertake the supervision of contact visits between children/young people and their families and carers, as allocated by the supervisor. Ensuring that the supervision and support of family contact sessions are consistent with Best Interest Principles.
  • Develop agenda’s and documentation for relevant meetings and prepare minutes of the meetings.
  • Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with service providers, case managers, families and children.
  • Make records of observations and assessments of contact sessions using the Client Relationship Information System (CRIS) and use a range of IT/web-based applications in accordance with guidelines and privacy principles.
  • Attend Children’s Court of Victoria and other relevant courts and tribunals and give evidence as required.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and relevant policies.
  • Data collection and record keeping.
  • Keeping of bookings and calendars of training and other events.
  • Booking of travel and accommodation for program staff.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Understanding of the Children’s, Youth and Families Act 2005.
  • Experience within the Children Youth and Families sector.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and strategies for working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
  • Cross cultural sensitivity and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal Communities and people.
  • Understanding of self-care and resilience when working with children and families in crisis and who have experienced trauma.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in relaying and managing information.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as a member of a team, and able to lead and effectively manage organisational change.
  • Ability to prepare plans, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language. Ensure written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose. Attention to detail.
  • Assisting in preparing family court reports.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, including the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to transport children, conduct home visits and willingness to travel for training.
  • Ability to work after hours (when required).

Preferred / Desired / Mandatory Education, Training and/or Competencies

  • Certificate III or IV in Administration (or related qualification) will be highly regarded.
  • Minimum 5 years Administration experience.
