About the Role

The Corporate Communications Specialist role contributes to a busy team while staff members are on planned leave. Acting as Media and PR Manager, and Internal Communications manager for a month each, the role then continues to support the ongoing implementation of strategic communications programs for mental health month and a national conference.

Duties

  • Proactively and reactively manage media opportunities and enquiries within the broad consumer media and PR landscape
  • Write press releases and impactful content to engage key stakeholders in the progress of research and our portfolio work
  • Support insightful messaging, impactful storytelling and content development to connect the BDI brand with audiences internally and externally
  • Manage and deliver internal content that supports internal communications plans
  • Support the Corporate Communications Manager and Thought Leadership Specialist in delivery of communications activities that support mental health month

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications with a degree in communications, journalism, or equivalent
  • Previous experience across media, public relations, internal communications, events/and or corporate communications
  • Solid understanding of media needs and relationships with experience in media liaison, including responding to enquiries, writing media releases, developing case studies and pitching stories
  • The ability to interpret complex information into key messages and accurate and engaging content
  • Experience working with or managing a PR agency (desirable)
  • Experience working with academics, scientists, health sector, or similar (desirable)
