About the Role:

The Suicide Prevention Implementation Team is expanding their services and is seeking a passionate, committed, and dynamic Projects Lead with experience in suicide prevention, implementation science and project management. You will work across several different projects which incorporate suicide prevention research and building suicide prevention implementation expertise, predominantly across Primary Health Networks, Local Health Districts, and community suicide prevention collaboratives.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of projects, manage staff, support the delivery and coordination of services, navigate complex tasks and stakeholder relationships, and solve problems at a project level that secure the successful and effective delivery of our services.

Your support in the leadership and growth of our services, stakeholders and team will be key to achieve the strategic goals for the Implementation Practice within the new Strategic Plan 2022-2026 for the Black Dog Institute.

This position will work closely with the Implementation Practice Manager, Suicide Prevention to ensure our suicide prevention service implementation services are well supported and executed for external stakeholders.

Key Duties:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of several projects
  • Develop, review, refine and deliver project plans
  • Oversee contract deliverables and ensure that all contract deliverables are performed and achieved at a highly professional level
  • Navigate complex projects and tasks, solve problems, make decisions, and initiate solutions
  • Initiate, establish, and nurture excellent relationships with external and internal partners, ensuring a customer focused and high-quality service delivery approach
  • Provide leadership support to the Implementation Practice Manager, Suicide Prevention for the stakeholder managements of contracts and projects such as the 12 National Suicide Prevention Trials and other various contracts and projects funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health, State Government and Primary Health Networks

About You:

The successful candidate will have the following:

Essential Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. communication, social science, psychology, or mental health) or equivalent qualification
  • At least 3 years’ experience in suicide prevention, and or 5+ years’ experience in mental health and other health sectors.
  • Subject matter expertise in suicide prevention, ideally in relation to systems approaches and evidence-based interventions
  • Excellent project management experience and skills, ideally within the suicide prevention sector with the ability to meet deadlines, demonstrate effective time management, and adapt as necessary to the demands of multiple projects
  • Demonstrated ability to implement suicide prevention initiatives and strategies successfully and effectively
  • Experience in leading and developing an effective, innovative and motivated team
  • Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with a variety of internal/external stakeholders through excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel regionally, rurally and interstate, as required

Desirable

  • Experience in the high-quality delivery and facilitation of training programs or workshops (online and face-to-face) to a diverse cross-section of clients
  • Experience building engaged online communities
  • Experience in the Non-for-Profit Sector
