As the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the full lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Directorate mission is to lead Australia's population mental health and suicide prevention response for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by providing subject matter expertise and contribute to first nations ways of knowing, being, and doing research and implementation activities. Our work is used to drive evidence informed change across the rapidly expanding mental health sector and sets the foundations for a brighter and healthier future for all.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
Reporting to the Head of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy, this role sits in the implementation team to collaborate and support the Reconciliation Action Plan working group to drive the development of the Innovate RAP and implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan across the Institute.
To be successful in this role, you have demonstrated understanding of how Reconciliation Action Plans work and how they can be successfully implemented. You have the ability to liaise and maintain positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders from community, government, and corporate entities. You also have proven knowledge and experience with topics including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, training and retention strategies, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander procurement, and cultural competency.
