The Role

The Business Relationship Manager is responsible for delivering the enterprise capacity building program and working with Indigenous Businesses pre and post access to capital.

The role has a focus on business planning, financial management and forecasting, accountability and communications. In addition, the role is responsible for coordinating the procurement of strategic and operational accounting, marketing, legal and HR activities for the Indigenous businesses we support.

At FAC, we believe CAPACITY building is all about providing practical, relevant advice as well as rolling our sleeves up and lending a hand.

Key selection criteria

You will have a broad range of skills in operating small to medium-sized enterprises, preferably having run your own business. You may also have experience in the not-for-profit sector.

You will need exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and a sound understanding and experience working with Indigenous people.

Experience

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in business development including financial management, business planning, marketing communications, and public relations.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organisational and personal sales skills.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and setting up new technology solutions for small businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets and financial forecasts
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging specialist subcontract agencies and pro-bono partners.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and multi stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Creativity and Strategic thinking
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong computer and technology skills across a range of marketing and customer relationship programs.
  • Whilst not essential experience with Hubspot, Zoom, WordPress and other content generating platforms will be highly regarded.

Indigenous Business and Community knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous societies, cultures and issues affecting Indigenous Australians in business
  • Knowledge of Indigenous economic development and/or impact capital markets context will be highly valued.

Desirable Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or equivalent life experience.

Additional requirements

  • A current driver’s license.
  • Attendance at after-hours meetings and/or events may be required.
  • Intra and Interstate travel may be required.

What’s the deal?

  • Contract : Full-time (potential to be part-time for the right candidate). 12 month contract initially.
  • Salary: From $90K (inclusive of PBI salary sacrificing, more detail below) + super as a Full Time Equivalent package.

  • Location: Remote

As a registered charity with PBI status, First Australians Capital is able to offer employees the option to salary package a portion of their wages.

You may choose to package a range of items, such as your mortgage, rent, school tuition fees, private health insurance or even a personal loan repayment, or everyday living expenses including groceries, clothing and utility bills.

You can package up to the allowable maximum of $15,900 each FBT year.

If you choose to package your salary (it is an option) money is deducted from your salary pre-tax. You pay tax only on the remaining portion of your salary not the salary packaged money, significantly reducing the income tax you pay
