The role:

The Assistant Accountant will report to the Finance Manager and work collaboratively in a small team. They will deliver excellent customer service to the office team and to Guides volunteers with finance-related queries.

  • Process and reconcile transactions in Xero in a timely/accurate manner and prepare invoices for contributions to centrally managed expenses
  • Liaise with members/stakeholders for prompt collection/resolution of aged receivables
  • Day to day financial transactions (ex; verifying, classifying, computing, and recording data)
  • Assist with finance functions such as financial month-end processes, annual budget processes, and audit preparation
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff, members, and volunteers with finance-related questions
  • Support the Finance team with member support including Insurance and the Investment and Building Fund
  • Ad hoc finance administration projects as requested by the Finance Manager
  • Work with a proven, experienced, and competent Finance team

Essential requirements:

You will excel in a fast-paced environment, have strong attention to detail and be a team player with the aptitude to collaborate to achieve outcomes.

  • Previous experience in a similar finance role and experience with accounting software (Xero preferred but not a must have)
  • Advanced skills across Microsoft Office applications, and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Passion for delivering high-level customer service to internal/external stakeholders
  • Girl Guides membership will be favourably regarded
  • Experience in a membership/NFP organisation will be highly regarded
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted in line with the requirements of the position and include a Working with Children Check, a National Police Check and two Referee Checks
