The role

Working closely with the Board, the passionate founders and staff, committed volunteers, ambassadors, partners and supporters, the CEO will inspire and lead the organisation to mainstream visibility and sustainable growth to deliver measurable impacts.

An initial key focus is ensuring the financial sustainability of the organisation by building the existing revenue streams (partnerships, philanthropy, grants and sales) as well as exploring alternative fundraising strategies.

The CEO will be responsible for the successful delivery in the following areas:

  • Raise funds through the implementation of an agreed fundraising strategy.
  • Management of finances including financial reporting to the board.
  • Manage staff and operations to ensure delivery on the strategic plan.
  • Create, improve and implement policies and procedures within the organisation that will improve operational and financial effectiveness.

About You

This is a hands-on role and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and service-oriented professional who is passionate about the environment, focused on growth and maximising impact.

You will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and sector experience in a people leadership role. Experience in the marine and/or environmental sector highly regarded.
  • Strong financial management and communication skills, including presentation, negotiation and influencing capabilities.
  • Strong networking and relationship management skills, in both corporate and NFP/community environments.
  • Ability to develop, communicate and implement strategic plans.
  • Experience in business development with strong commercial acumen.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo reference checks, a National Police Check and be fully vaccinated.
