About the Role:

The Communications Manger will form part of the Senior Leadership team and is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of both internal and external communication.

As the Communications Manager you will be the expert, working with Senior Leadership to counsel and advise on best communication practice including crisis management protocols. This role leads a small and newly established team and so will be required to create efficient and effective process and procedures to ensure quality communications outputs are delivered.

You will manage internal communication strategies to drive staff engagement, manage media and PR, and will also plan and oversee communication functions including website, social media, intranet content and external communications and/or publications. This role will suit someone who likes high level thinking and strategy, but is also wanting to be hands on in the day to day operations.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, media, communications or similar
  • Previous experience in the not for profit, disability or broader community services sector
  • Relevant communications experience in a similar role
  • Well-developed leadership skill with previous experience in developing teams
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to write for a range of purpose, channels and audiences
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic development
  • Proven ability to translate complex information into simple and easy to understand content
  • Well-developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to be diplomatic and influence at all levels
