About the Role:

This role requires coordination of communication across media and digital channels to shift Australia towards a renewable electricity grid. You will need to create and implement strategic media interventions to achieve narrative goals. This will be achieved through regular media and digital monitoring and analysis, writing and pitching media stories to strengthen the campaign, as well as manage digital campaign assets including website, email and social media.

About the Candidate:

To be successful in this role you will be a creative self- starter with a passion for climate justice. Previous experience working under pressure to implement effective media and digital strategies is a must. You will be fast paced, have a knack for problem solving and have strong skills in writing compelling stories to deliver social change. This role will see you collaborate with a range of different stakeholders so confidence and the ability to quickly build meaningful relationships is important.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement tactical media interventions to achieve energy transformation campaign and narrative goals.
  • Provide media, communications and digital support, through training and mentoring to help community groups have a greater impact.
  • Pitch stories, and grow and maintain relationships with relevant journalists to ensure strong coverage.
  • Create, implement and analyse digital campaigns and tactics across web, email and social media platforms, ensuring campaigns effectively respond to moments, activate and grow their audiences.
  • Undertake regular media and digital monitoring and analysis, and make strategic recommendations to strengthen the impact of campaigns.

To be successful you will have:

  • Experience developing and implementing research based communications strategies, including framing and message development.
  • Understanding of the Australian media landscape and a proven record of engaging media and journalist to pitch stories and secure coverage of campaigns.
  • Ability to work with individuals and community groups to identify, craft and successfully pitch case studies and personal stories to the media.
  • Understanding of digital campaign assets, including websites and social media platforms, and moderating online communities.
  • High level communication skills and experience writing persuasive and engaging messaging and copy for a range of audiences.
  • Must have strong initiative and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for environmental justice and action on climate change is important.
