A strategic opportunity has has arisen for an experienced Philanthropy professional to join a national health based not-for-profit to oversee the development of the major gifts portfolio.

About the Organisation

In this senior management role, you will have the opportunity to develop a strategic major gifts donor journey, and manage flourishing relationships with high net worth individuals and Trusts and Foundations. You will also report directly to the CEO, and will have support from the Board to make your impact in leading and developing this philanthropic portfolio and team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside a supportive CEO and Board to develop a strategic approach to the growth and development of the philanthropy portfolio
  • Develop and implement a strategic major donor fundraising plan with clear targets and objectives
  • Line manage a senior fundraiser
  • Manage existing relationships with HNWIs and prospect new relationships
  • Develop engagement and communication plans, donor strategies and proposals, and share this information with the CEO
  • Identify prospects and manage the cultivation stewardship processes
  • Create an engaging donor journey from initial approach to ask, with a high touch retention strategy
  • Conceptualise and project manage major gift donor events, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to facilitate event days
  • Maintain the database in relation to any philanthropic activity
  • Grow and develop long term and long-lasting relationships with donors, increasing their level of giving and implementing retention strategies
  • Manage budgets, targets and reporting for the major donor program

Skills & Attributes

  • Senior level philanthropy background with ability to create and apply high level strategic thinking
  • Proven Major Giving fundraising experience with experience soliciting large gifts from individuals and Trusts and Foundations
  • Knowledge and experience of successful proposal development
  • Experience managing budgets across philanthropy
  • Experience managing the entire donor journey process across philanthropy from prospecting research, thorough to the ask
  • Exceptional relationship management experience and proven track record of building long term rewarding partnerships
  • Exceptional presentation skills with efficiency in administration and reporting
  • A desire to work in a standalone role in a small Fundraising team
  • Experience collaborating with Senior Executives and Boards to achieve results
