About the Organisation:

Children’s Cancer Institute Australia (CCIA) are committed to eradicating childhood cancer through their Personalised Medicine Research. They are the only medical research institute of its kind in Australia and collaborate with researchers and clinicians around the globe.

When Children’s Cancer Institute and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network unveiled one of their most exciting initiatives yet, to combat the most serious cases in childhood cancer, the program was named the Zero Childhood Cancer Program. This multi-million-dollar program has an ambitious goal of preventing the 950 childhood cancer diagnoses made each year in Australia.

About the Role:

This role will report into the Finance Manager, and will have one direct report, to support all forecasting and budgeting of the Zero Childhood Cancer Program.

This candidate will also business partner with researchers and other teams and be able collaborate in a fast-paced environment to achieve optimal results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage annual and three-to-five-year budgeting, continuous-rolling forecast management (proactively pursue information to reflect in rolling forecasts)
  • Resource planning and remuneration forecasts
  • Maintain complex data models around the key operating drivers
  • Produce and analyse monthly reports and dashboards, variance analysis, and commentary
  • Manage the accounts and transactions
  • Grants – manage financial reporting to funding bodies for Personalised Medicine grants
  • Working with both the Personalised Medicine Program Leader, Personalised Medicine Program Manager, and Management team and the Finance team to own and manage financial processes

Essential Requirements:

This candidate will have a connection to the cause and the work they do, and be able to collaborative with other like-minded stakeholders. They will be able to business partner with non-financial stakeholders to achieve financial targets.

  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting/forecasting, reporting and analysis
  • Be dynamic, agile and adaptable in managing change
  • CA/CPA degree is advantageous, as well as relevant qualifications (or qualifications by experience)
  • Senior stakeholder relationship building experience
  • Strong technical proficiency in EPRs and forecasting systems
