THE ORGANISATION

This national organisation works with people in remote areas across 85% of Australia, including Indigenous communities on isolated properties, mining sites and with remote communities. They provide essential drought relief and community recovery through volunteer assistance and emotional support to the people of remote Australia.

THE ROLE

The National Manager – Communications, Media and PR will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the brand, marketing national campaigns and the volunteer program communication strategies and objectives. Additionally, the role will identify and support the National Director in regards to media opportunities, public policy, government relations and advocacy matters that can be leveraged to support the objectives and goals of the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of the organisation’s marketing communications strategy, building a year-round marcomms plan and calendar to support the organisations fundraising, advocacy and impact goals
  • Lead the campaign communication process including strategic planning, development and execution
  • Support the National Programs Manager with strategies, tactics and communications which will drive reach in our programs, increasing the quantity and quality of qualified volunteers
  • Manage production and distribution of major marketing communications collateral including the annual report, digital
  • Develop strong relationships with our community stakeholders gathering valuable insights which can be translated to powerful, influential marketing communications
  • Identify media, public policy and PR issues where the organisation can provide a constructive voice
  • Lead and manage the media response and provide detailed briefings to the National Director
  • Research on social issues for regional and remote communities to provide advocacy and policy direction

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential:

  • Significant communications experience including marketing communications, advocacy and media relations
  • Brand management and multi-channel marketing expertise
  • Experience with media, press and PR management
  • Proven experience generating revenue and brand awareness campaigns
  • Ability to write strategy, measure and manage campaigns
  • Understanding of fundraising principles and applications
  • Willingness and ability to travel
