About the organisation

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; New South Wales (RSPCA NSW) is a not-for-profit organisation in Australia that cares for, treats, protects, and rehomes animals across the state. They run seven shelters and three veterinary hospitals in NSW as well as working with volunteer branches and their strong mission is to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection.

This is an exciting time to join RSPCA NSW, with their new capital projects in the works, this new role will assist in making history.

The Role

The NSW Volunteer State Manager is an energising and new position with RSPCA NSW. Collaborating and contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment, this role is fully accountable for the organisation’s management activities that will strengthen, empower, and grow the volunteer network across all NSW departments.

In conjunction with providing high levels of service to customers, and the management of animals entering and leaving shelters, the successful candidate will develop systems and processes to execute ideas in alignment with their recently developed three-year strategic plan for volunteer engagement.

You will be responsible for assessing and developing sustainable change in line with their organisational goals, support and drive continuous improvement and change projects. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will be leading a small team to implement new methods, techniques, and practices to identify areas of risk and appropriate solutions within the broader volunteer team.

Once successfully launched, and change management procedures are mastered, you will work collaboratively with other RSPCA NSW stakeholders to coordinate the flow of operations to achieve sustainable results.

Success factors of the role

  • Excellent customer relationship and stakeholder management skills with a focus on customer experience, best practice, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to communicate clearly and influence outcomes across all management levels
  • Ability to deliver exceptional strategic planning results to meet identified program requirements
  • Confident working autonomously whilst also collaborating within a team
  • Previous experience working within a large organisation
  • Non-for-profit experience is desirable, though not necessary
  • Formal qualification in relevant managing change and training discipline
