Domestic Violence NSW (DVNSW) is the peak body for specialist Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) services in NSW. They work to eliminate domestic and family violence through the leadership of the specialist DFV sector and the NSW policy environment. In 2021, DVNSW were awarded the contract to represent Women’s Domestic Violence and Court Advocacy Services (WDVCAS). About the role

In this newly created role, you will contribute to the implementation of training for the DFV core and cluster rollout. The Sector Development Officer will report to and work closely with the Project Manager to identify and respond to the capacity building needs of front-line service providers across NSW.

The Sector Development Officer will work collaboratively with the existing DVNSW Sector Development Team to develop and disseminate resources through both online and face-to-face learning.

As a newly established role, the responsibilities and work plan will be flexible with the capacity to evolve and respond to issues, demands and feedback from key stakeholders. Role responsibilities are anticipated to include the following:

  • Support the analysis of survey data to inform planning and training requirements.
  • Facilitate consultations across NSW to input into the gap analysis.
  • Develop and implement an evaluation plan to collate data on the outcomes of the capacity building project.
  • Develop a training strategy detailing the resources and learning opportunities to be delivered in collaboration with partners.
  • Implement the training strategy, facilitate place-based workshops, coordinating dates, venues, catering, registration, marketing, and communications.
  • Regularly share information and collaborate with other peak bodies to ensure capacity building activities are in alignment with shared plans and to avoid duplication.
  • Draft and coordinate communications to share resources and learning opportunities widely with relevant stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with the existing DVNSW Sector Development Team, develop resources including researching and contracting external support to develop animations, recordings and other collateral.
  • Provide best practice expertise and guidance to operate trauma-informed, culturally safe domestic and family violence services.
  • Contribute to the development of project reports and updates.
  • Support the implementation of a grants program.
  • Participate in project planning meetings.
  • Communicate and collaborate routinely with other peak bodies and relevant stakeholders.

About you

This new role will suit candidates who have a strong understanding of DFV sector and are keen to contribute to the capacity of frontline service providers to design and deliver high quality support for women and children escaping violence. You will bring established project management, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills and well developed, analytical and communication skills. You will also have:

  • Experience in the DFV sector and experience in roles that include end to end project management
  • Tertiary education in a relevant discipline such as social science, community development, psychology etc.
  • An understanding of the NSW Domestic and Family funding and policy context, along with exposure of procurement, tender and grant processes
  • Experience establishing and managing relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise in a fast-paced and demanding environment with strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Proven ability to work remotely and work independently to achieve work plan
  • Experience working in a culturally safe, sensitive and appropriate manner
  • Flexible and adaptable working style with the ability to at times work outside of core hours, and have the capacity to undertake travel across NSW to visit service providers
  • Willing to undertake a National Police Check and be fully vaccination against COVID-19 (as per government mandates)
