The Australian Packaging Covenant of Australia (APCO) is a co-regulatory, not-for-profit organisation partnering with governments and industries to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.

APCO aims to change the culture of business and educate consumers through the implementation of unique projects and programs and the subsequent promotion of sustainable packaging activities including sustainable design, recycling initiatives, waste to landfill reduction, and circular economy.

About the Role

APCO are looking to appoint an experienced Program Manager with a passion and understanding for packaging, sustainability, and or labelling to manage the ARL Program.

You will be responsible for managing a small team whilst ensuring the smooth delivery of the program. All administration activities for the Program, including managing tasks, scheduling, compliance, risk management analysis, stakeholder engagement, and budget management form part of this role.

About the person

As the ARL Program Manager, you will have proven experience in leading, managing, and developing a team.

You will have strong planning, organisational, and time management skills with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

A proven background in successfully managing a sustainability Program is essential. You will have a collaborative work style, be proactive problem solving and have the ability to engage as an active team participant.

Duties include:

  • Develop & deliver the ARL Packaging Program, activities, and projects
  • Manage operations and activities efficiently to ensure they align with the ARL Packaging Program targets and KPIs
  • Develop program structures and partnerships to meet key program objectives
  • Being a primary point of contact for all administrative ARL Program assets and resources
  • Supervision and delegation of work to the ARL Program team
  • Reporting and analysis of ARL data to identify trends and inform future planning
  • Support the development of the IT and data capability of the ARL program

To be successful you will have:

  • Experience in program management
  • Resilience to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Ability to build and maintain good relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Leadership experience overseeing multiple programs, with a sustainability focus
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of program planning, organisational structure, budgeting, and operations
  • Strong business development skills and experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
