About MATES in Construction

MATES was established in 2008, MATES are an evidenced-based organisation who provides suicide prevention through community development programs on-site, and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 helpline. MATES serves the construction industry in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, and Western Australia, the Energy industry in Queensland and New South Wales, and nationally to the Mining industry.

The program was developed from a solid evidence base provided by the Australian Institute of Suicide Research and Prevention: The AISRAP Report.

MATES vision is to be Australia’s leading industry suicide prevention organisation focusing on raising awareness, building capacity, providing help and research.

The Role – Training and Engagement Coordinator

Reporting to the Program and Operations Manager, the Training and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating staff training internally and community development initiatives to support the effective and efficient implementation of organisation-wide programs and projects.

As Training and Engagement Coordinator you will:

  • Work closely with managers and operations staff to develop, deliver and evaluate learning and engagement initiatives
  • Assist in program delivery, ensure consistent use and development of programs
  • Identify, develop and implementation of training programs
  • Support business stakeholders to maintain high-quality standard of training needs
  • Coordinate compulsory planned and adhoc training requirements
  • Attend external networking meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practice and Government Funding opportunities for learning and development programs
  • Work with MATES internal and external stakeholders to document training manuals and processes
  • High level of Community engagement

Your Skills and Attributes

  • Relevant tertiary or other suitable training and qualifications in training, learning and development
  • Experience facilitating learning and development for adult learning
  • Strong administration and planning skills
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal, writing and presenting
  • Knowledge of process in development of training resourcing
  • Advanced Microsoft office skills
  • Experience in audits and quality assurance
