About the Company

The Children’s Cancer Institute is the only independent medical research in Australia dedicated to research into the causes, prevention, better treatments and ultimately a cure for childhood cancer.

The Institute has now grown to employ nearly 350 researchers, operational staff and students, and has established a national and international reputation for scientific excellence.

They are currently on a remarkable journey with clinical colleagues at the Kids Cancer Centre and Sydney Children’s Hospital to develop a brand-new and Australian first Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre, which once completed will house up to 900 child cancer clinicians and scientists.

About the Role

The Trusts and Foundations Executive will identify Trust & Foundation opportunities to fund life-saving research, working collaboratively with the Research and Partnership team and UNSW grant management team.
In this role you will grow the prospect pipeline, manage the relationships of Trust & Foundations, identify compelling research propositions for submission, work with researchers to shape proposals and mange the acquittal process of successful applications.

Responsibility

  • Develop and implement a purpose driven strategy to optimise and increase revenue generation – acquire new funding partnerships with likeminded Trust and Foundations
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams including Research Development, partnerships, UNSW grants office, finance and marketing teams
  • Build and manage relationships with Trust and Foundations contacts – developing long term partnerships
  • Develop and manage a pipeline and a calendar of opportunities for relevant funding applications including the writing, editing and submission of proposals, management of partnership records, accurate reporting, remittance, recognition, and relationship information
  • Liaise with Finance team & Head of Engagement to develop effective reporting of income and expense performance

About the Candidate

You will have strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communications skills. You will have a ‘think outside the box’ mindset with the ability to problem-solve using creative methods.

This role requires exceptional writing and editing skills and needs you to have the ability to translate scientific information into layman’s terms. Building relationships will come naturally to you, and you will enjoy working with stakeholder across the business.

To be successful you will ideally have

  • Qualification in a relevant field such as science, communications, business discipline or marketing is preferred
  • Prior experience acquiring and managing funding relationships is a preference
  • Strong business writing skills and ability to write for purpose
  • Ability to manage concurrent multi-stakeholder projects to deadlines
  • Proven capability managing revenue budgets for funding proposals or similar
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Strong relationship skills
  • A passion and interest in working for a NFP
