Kinship Care is the care provided to a child or sibling group by their extended family or friends, when they are unable to be cared for by their own parents. Berry Street's Kinship Care Service is designed to accommodate all kinship arrangements.
This role provides a case management and case work service to statutory kinship care placements to support and assist kinship carers to provide the best possible care to children living in kinship care. Berry Street also provides support to kinship carers in the community through the provision of kinship care support groups and brief telephone support to provide information and advice.
This role requires outreach services to be provided to the City of Greater Shepparton, Moira, Strathbogie, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires.
You will have demonstrated ability to effectively engage with children, young people and their kinship families and a good understanding of the inter-generational factors and complex relationships between extended family members that can impact kinship placements.
Experience working with children, young people and families through an attachment and trauma-based lens is essential.
This role requires a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work or related discipline along with knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act (2005), Protection and Care’s Best Interest planning principles and procedures and other relevant legislation.
