  • Salary package equivalent to $116K pa (inclusive of base salary – $97K plus super and salary packaging)

Berry Street's Residential Care Programs provide accommodation, care and support to children and young people. With multiple sites across Victoria, our houses are staffed on a 24-hour roster, 7 days a week.

About You 

The Residential Care Team Leader will provide supervision, support, coaching and mentoring to a team of dedicated Residential Care Supervisors working in our homes to ensure a high quality, therapeutically focused care is provided 24/7 to the children and young people in our care. 

The Residential Care Team Leader is instrumental in the provision of high quality residential care based on a therapeutic and trauma informed model of care. The Residential Care Team Leader manages the daily operations of the homes they are responsible for and supports the recruitment, development and retention of Residential Supervisors and Residential Care Workers. 

The successful applicant will ideally hold a recognised and relevant qualification at a tertiary qualification level in Social Work, Youth Work, Alcohol/Other Drugs, Disability and substantial experience in working with children and young people.

Key Responsibilities 

The Residential Care Team Leader will provide vital guidance and support and take care of a team of a high functioning Residential Care Supervisors who will be dedicated to looking after children and young people that are in our care. 

The primary objectives of the role include; 

  • Responsibility for the oversight and leadership of Residential Care Supervisors and their teams
  • Managing a portfolio including the coordination of support for the region’s fulltime, part time and casual pool of staff
  • Maintaining a collaborative and positive team culture and contribute to continual improvement 
  • Working independently but also cooperatively within a leadership team and the ability to work under pressure and juggle competing demands on time 
  • Advocating for young people in Residential Care and mentoring other staff within the program to care therapeutically for those who have experienced the impacts of trauma and neglect.
