Job description:

The Medical Receptionist role is to provide high quality reception and administration services to the patients, staff including GP's, nurses, Practice Manager and reception staff, allied health staff, tenants, students on campus and medical students on placement in a caring and supportive manner. The medical receptionist will organise appointments, maintain records and perform other tasks directed by the practice manager in order to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the clinic.

Description of practice/facilities:

Berwick Healthcare is a multi-disciplinary, mixed billing practice situated on the Berwick Federation University Campus. It provides services to the university and TAFE students as well as the wider community. We are an accredited teaching practice for GP registrars, medical and nursing students. Monash Health provides numerous specialist out patient clinics, Mental Health services including psychiatry and addiction medicine and also Monash Pathology. We also run one of the HeadtoHelp Hubs which is a Government funded free mental health service.

Essential selection criteria:

  • Prefer previous experience in a GP environment
  • Proficiency in Windows operating system and knowledge of General Practice administrative software and /or Clinical software (Best Practice)
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage within a busy workplace setting with fluctuating levels of demand
  • Ability to respond to patient needs in a calm, warm and friendly manner in sometimes stressful circumstance
