Your Role

We are building a new SIL team for 2 of BestLife's long term clients. There’s an opportunity for a passionate self starter with experience as a senior disability support worker and team leader to take a lead role and progress your career.

These 2 young adults have been practicing being good housemates 3 nights a month for the last several years. They are now ready to realise their dream to move out of their family homes and become permanent housemates in their own home in Coorparoo, Brisbane.

We are looking to create a support team to help them on this next step in their journey. You will:

  • Support them to perform daily living tasks and participate in community
  • Have the ability to understand and connect with them with flexibility and to use their preferred method of communication ( eg. Proloquo2Go, PODD)
  • Believe in possibilities, creative and reflective thinking and posses strong communication skills
  • Adhere to client’s individual support plans and complete NDIS documentation
  • Take the lead role as SIL House Co-ordinator i.e. manage a small team, update rosters and review client rosters of care
  • Have the availability to work some sleepover shifts each week

You will need:

  • Current Driver’s License
  • Current First Aid Certificate, NDIS Screening Check and WWC
  • Previous experience in SIL or residential care
  • Knowledge of NDIS portal and documentation e.g. RoCs, SIL Guidelines
  • Experience with preparing rosters and overseeing and managing a small support team
  • Ability to work a mix of both daytime and sleepover shifts in the SIL24/7 home
  • And most importantly a passion and enthusiasm to help young people with disability create the regular independent lives they deserve!
