About the role

As a Registered Psychologist with Better Together Community Support, you will provide the highest standards of evidence-based mental health services to our diverse group of clients and patients. Working collaboratively with an experienced multidisciplinary mental health
team, you will use your deep knowledge and professional psychological skills to achieve Better Together’s vision of ‘strengthening community’ and work to specific program goals. This role will encourage professional growth and development through the breadth of Better Together services, including appropriate mental health services and psycho-social education for families, young people, the elderly and alcohol and other drugs.

Some responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based clinical interventions to Better Together’s diverse group of clients.
  • Maintain professional case notes, prepare reports and provide expert advice to Better Together staff as required, in accordance with organisational need.
  • Maintain record keeping practices in line with ethical, legislative and Better Together Records Management Policy & Procedures.
  • Actively contribute to and participate in internal quality improvement initiatives and clinical support practices.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of moderately complex projects under the direction of management.
  • Carry out planning, studies or research for particular projects including aspects of design, formulation of policy, implementation of procedures and presentation.
  • Maintain professional registration and adhere to ethical, legislative and Better Together probity requirements.

You are passionate about supporting vulnerable people to make positive change. You are results-driven and take a flexible approach to the workplace and work effectively under minimal supervision. Your collaborative and cooperative approach will help you work well within a team-based environment. You have cross-cultural knowledge and sensitivity, particularly with indigenous cultures and you are committed to professional development with a capacity for self-reflection.

Knowledge & Skills

  1. Comprehensive knowledge and experience of contemporary principles and practices in psychology, including psychometric testing,
    assessments, and intervention specific to individual needs.
  2. Willingness to develop a comprehensive knowledge of organisation policies, procedures, practices and contract requirements with an appreciation of the long-term goals of the organisation and a detailed knowledge of program activities and work practices relevant to the work area.
  3. Specialist skills in negotiating outcomes and the ability to prioritise activities according to Better Together objectives as a member of a
    multi-disciplinary team, while exercising professional judgment within prescribed areas.

Qualifications

  1. Full registration as a psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) – Psychology Board of Australia.
  2. Current Medicare Provider Number or capacity to obtain.
  3. Current Driver’s Licence.
  4. Current ‘Working with Children Check – Blue Card’.
  5. Satisfactory Police Check.
