About the role

As a UX/UI Designer in the BES team, you’ll be working on projects that directly impact our overall mission. Our software suite includes Tupaia and Tamanu and we also implement and support mSupply and DHIS2 systems, all of which you’ll contribute to.

Currently, our team is advancing our software to support the COVID-19 response for vulnerable populations in the Pacific, in particular vaccine registration, lab test results management with a patient portal, and mapping of medical supplies. Our aim is to make the experience intuitive and beautiful, so that it is a pleasure for users to explore interactive graphs, maps, and other visualisations to enable evidence-informed decision making, even if they are not totally comfortable with tech or data.

Day to day, you will:

• Undertake UX/UI designs across BES’ tech stack, including on Tupaia, Tupaia MediTrak and Tamanu (desktop and mobile)
• Work with project managers and product owners on UI decisions, including providing feedback to clients as requested
• Act as a liaison between project managers and the software development team as necessary
• Provide overall advice to BES senior management

This is a part-time position, and we are a flexible bunch that are open to this role being structure as suited to the candidate.

About you

We are looking for someone with at least 3 years’ experience as a UX/UI Designer. Experience in some (we don't expect all) of the following skills would also be an advantage:

• Experience in user flows, wireframes and prototyping
• Ability to craft thoughtful and extensible UI Designs
• Familiar with design systems and Figma
• Always questioning how we can make things simpler or more intuitive for our users
• Confidence to become the in-house expert on all things UI/UX when our current designer finishes up

Right now, we're working remotely until restrictions ease but the office is on Nicholson St in Brunswick East - close to Lygon Street with its Cafés, restaurants and bars - and there is a big park just behind our building.
