Since 1997 Bridges Health & Community Care Ltd (BHCC Ltd.)has been providing specialist community-based mental health programs and in 2007, expanded their service to include drug and alcohol services and a Psychology Practice for the Bundaberg & District communities. Bridges now offers additional mental health and AOD services across the Wide Bay Burnett, Central Qld and Fraser Coast regions, including rural communities and prisons.

Bridges Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation & Treatment Service (DARTS) offers a comprehensive therapeutic drug and alcohol service for both youth aged 12 years plus, and adults. It includes counselling, withdrawal management, psychosocial interventions, day rehab program, after hours and crisis support. We also assist families and carers who may have difficulty coping with their loved ones problematic drug or alcohol issues.

About the Opportunity

Bridges Health & Community Care has a rewarding full time opportunity for a Senior Drug & Alcohol Clinician to join its growing team in the Wide Bay region

We are looking for a dedicated, reliable, professional with a can do flexible attitude and the ability to get along well with others.

In this role, you will be providing evidence based interventions for individuals with drug and alcohol issues, and family members impacted by someone else's use. Your role will include counselling, case management, care coordination, brief interventions, day rehab services and crisis support, psycho-education, referrals to residential rehabilitation or other AOD services.

Travel to outreach clinics around the region and/or other Bridges Health and Community Care sites may be required. A company vehicle for work purposes is provided.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering evidence based psychological and psychosocial AOD treatments in a range of settings;
  • Minimising the harm associated with the misuse of alcohol and/or drugs;
  • Improving the family functioning, social connectedness and life skills of people who misuse substances;
  • Delivering an evidence based day rehab program in our Bundaberg facility
  • Providing one-to-one support and interventions, relapse prevention and ongoing assistance to improve psychosocial and family functioning;
  • Improving the social connectedness and life skills of people who misuse substances;
  • Ensuring electronic and paper-based client files are maintained as per statutory compliance requirements; and
  • Promoting the Bridges DARTS to gain broader community awareness.

The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications in the health, social or behavioural sciences fields, and have experience working with individuals with drug and alcohol issues.

Importantly, you'll have a demonstrated ability to apply harm minimisation practices in the treatment of people with AOD issues, along with preparing client assessments and treatment plans based on those assessments.

Suitable candidates must have a minimum of 4 years experience in a drug and alcohol treatment setting and experience working with all types of licit and illicit substances and co-morbidity.

You'll need to be flexible and dedicated to providing best practice solutions, and be able to work effectively both in a team environment as well as autonomously. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to liaise appropriately with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Innovative engagement strategies and strong collaborative relationships with the health and community sector will be vital.

IT and computer skills including use of databases is also essential.

A solid understanding of community resources, treatment services and referral networks would be held in high regard.

To be successful you must hold, or have the ability to obtain, a Blue Card for Working with Children and Young People, as well as a current drivers' licence. You must also be prepared to undergo a police check.

Award wages and generous salary sacrifice offered – negotiable for the right person. Salary range - $75,000.00 - $89,999.00 plus super plus salary sacrifice.
