About the Role

An exciting opportunity has come available, for a Casual Contact Worker in Foster Care who is seeking an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Children in care and their families. You will be Anglicare works with young people and families engaged in the Out-Of-Home Care (OOHC) system in NSW. We provide Foster Care throughout Metropolitan Sydney. You will be facilitating, supervising and reporting on contact visits between children and their families within the Foster Care program.

Key Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Facilitating and Supervising children’s contact with birth family members in accordance with the child or young person’s case plan or as directed by program staff.
  • Establishing positive relationships with the Child, birth parents and others as required.
  • Safely transporting clients in vehicles to contact venues.
  • Ensuring the well-being of client during visits with birth families and others by assessing client safety, planning, and intervening where appropriate.
  • Ensuring child or young person has contact with birth family and significant others by facilitating visits, observing and monitoring quality of interactions and producing contact visit reports at a high professional standard.
  • Ensuring that reports are a prompt and accurate record of observations, risks, interactions and dynamics in supervised visits, and communicates feedback to key staff.
  • Attending relevant internal and external training, as agreed with supervisor.
  • Complying with safe work practices, actively participating in safety activities, including hazard and incident reporting.

About you

  • Tertiary education in social work, psychology or child welfare/ community services
  • Unrestricted NSW Drivers licence
  • Knowledge of child’s needs, developmental trauma and attachment
  • Skills in establishing rapport, respectfully communicating expectations and being assertive
  • Experience relating to and building rapport with children
  • Knowledge of child protection system
  • Excellent observation, written and verbal communication skills
