Position Overview

The Child and Family Project Coordinator is responsible for working closely with families and other professional agencies in relation to implementing trauma informed and protective behaviour based work to assist children and families within their community.

The Coordinator will work closely with local families and communities in the Shoalhaven area to lead the development and facilitation of our Milton ChildSafe Family Group and deliver bespoke training on trauma informed principles and practices, protective behaviours for children and resilience building. Together with the ChildSafe Group, the Coordinator will co design the Shoalhaven ChildSafe Conference to disseminate knowledge and build skills and awareness across the community. The position will work with Child Protection Manager to implement additional projects to reinforce Big Fat Smile’s Child Safe Framework and Child Safe Organisation plan to embed the Child Safe Standards across services and programs.

Key Essential Criteria:

  • Cleared Valid for paid work, working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
  • Degree qualified in social work, psychology or similar, supported by relevant experience.
  • Proven experience establishing and maintaining effective partnerships and working collaboratively with a range of stake holders.
  • Proven experience in delivering capacity building training including small group facilitation and co-design.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in trauma informed service delivery, knowledge of child protection issues/laws and referral and support services available to families.
  • Experience and/or ability in project. management, service design and evaluation
  • High Standard of interpersonal and communication skills, time management skills and the ability to organise work effectively.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office package.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal hours on occasion.
  • Driving license.
  • Evidence from the Australian Immunisation Register of 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine; or a medical contraindication certificate.
