About Us

Launch Housing is a secular Melbourne-based community organisation that provides homelessness services and life-changing housing supports to disadvantages Victorians. With over 400 staff working across 13 locations, we want to end homelessness and are committed to creating lasting societal change to help those most in need in our community. In a country as wealthy as ours no one should be homeless.

Our South Melbourne site supports families living in our crisis accommodation and in the community. The South Melbourne site includes 7 on-site self-contained units, and a number of off-site units, for families for up to three months.

The Role

You will report to the Children's Specialist Support Service Coordinator and will:

  • Foster education and provide support and referrals to school aged children who have experienced homelessness or family violence
  • Develop collaborative and effective working relationship with schools and services providers
  • Facilitate induction sessions for parents at local primary and secondary schools
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of statistical data

You will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or related discipline
  • Have an understanding of issues faced by people at risk of or experiencing homelessness and the staff who work with them
  • Experience in the social welfare sector and/or working with families, children and young people who have complex needs
  • Knowledge of theories of development of children and how their level of development may impact on their experience of learning
