Launch Housing is an independent Melbourne based community organisation passionately committed to ending homelessness. From providing high-quality housing to an innovative range of support, education, and employment services, we bring solutions to homelessness under one roof for thousands at risk or experiencing the crisis and trauma of homelessness. With over 400 staff working across 14 locations in metropolitan Melbourne, we combine direct action with advocacy, research, and innovation to drive widespread change.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, Getting Housing, you will be responsible for establishing our COVID-19 Isolation and Recovery Facility (CIRF) in Fitzroy, ensuring the effective delivery of CIRF related services for residents. Whilst no two days are the same, you will:

  • Work in collaboration with St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and Brotherhood of St Laurence to ensure high-quality and timely services on-site and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents.
  • Liaise with a range of external agencies such as the Department of Fairness, Families and Housing (DFFH).
  • Manage the operations effectively and ensure all Launch Housing staff comply with COVID-safe operating procedures. You will also oversee and report on the expenditure of client brokerage funds, and assist in the preparation of invoices to DFFH.
  • Support the design and operationalise the Better Health and Housing Program (BHHP) of the facility. This includes the development of an agreed program logic (with identified outcome measures) and clear plans to implement BHHP operations.
  • Provide regular report on data trends, outcomes, and ensure key data is available to quantify impact and outcomes supporting the direction of Launch Housing services and project partners.

About you

You have tertiary qualification in human services, social work or other relevant discipline and have extensive operational and management experience within the community and/or public sectors. You will have strong people leadership qualities including a high degree of initiative, analytical skills, integrity and accountability.

As a leader you know it's your relationships with your team that will create success and your staff's wellbeing is paramount for you. You get a kick out of seeing others succeed but you won't shy away from the tough conversations when needed.

You're excited by change, you like to plan and dream big, but you know how to get things over the line and balance competing demands.
