How you'll transform lives

Reporting to the Group Manager, Crisis Accommodation, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all housing support services run out of Launch Housing's Southbank residential facility.

These services currently include temporary accommodation (for up to eight weeks with a possibility of extension), case management, transitional support and other services for couples and single adults experiencing homelessness. Southbank's residential facility includes 46 rooms, 41 for singles and 5 for couples. Southbank also provides a Therapeutical Model which includes the Alcohol and Other Drugs service, the Enhance Engagement and Peer Support Programs.

You will be empowered to review the crisis service offerings at Southbank whilst collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and the Group Manager - Crisis Accommodation, in order to adapt service models to reflect contemporary practice in a crisis setting, and to consider options to remodel these services as part of the broader service system.

In this role you will:

  • Provide leadership to Coordinators and oversee the activities of all Southbank's staff to ensure the provision of consistent and high-quality services
  • Ensure Southbank staff participate in Launch Housing's communities of practice/expertise for client cohorts with particular needs (e.g. AoD, rough sleepers, FV)
  • Ensure the appropriate supervision and performance development of staff in accordance with relevant Launch Housing policies and procedures
  • Actively support the review & re-design of crisis services
  • Manage all critical incidents and other risks that arise at the facility in accordance with Launch Housing policy and DFFH requirements
  • Support a culture and program of continuous improvement, provide direction to ensure the and support a high-performance culture focused on client outcomes and impact, and the wellbeing of staff

The successful candidate will be an authentic, inspirational and caring leader who will uphold our company values. You deliver results and create opportunities that transform lives and motivate a diverse group of people, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification and substantial experience in client facing human services, social work or other relevant discipline, with a preference for an understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context and systems
  • Program or service coordination/management experience within the community and/or public sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of high-quality initial assessment, planning and prioritisation programs 
  • Sound people leadership skills, experience in managing staff and striving for consistency in performance and behaviour
  • Understanding the effect of trauma on clients and vicarious trauma on staff, and ensuring staff well-being and sound practices to support clients
