About Launch Housing

Launch Housing is an independent Melbourne based community organisation passionately committed to ending homelessness. From providing high-quality housing to an innovative range of support, education, and employment services, we bring solutions to homelessness under one roof for thousands at risk or experiencing the crisis and trauma of homelessness. With over 400 staff working across 14 locations in metropolitan Melbourne, we combine direct action with advocacy, research, and innovation to drive widespread change.

The Women's only Crisis Accommodation is a residential facility with 15 single client rooms, the service provide temporary accommodation (for up to 8 weeks with the possibility of extension), case management, transitional support and other services to assist clients in achieving dignified and sustainable housing outcomes. The program also provides support to women outside the residential facility, including a rooming house located in the St Kilda area.

Your impact on the community

Reporting to the Group Manager, Crisis Accommodation, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Women's only Crisis Accommodation programs & service delivery and Launch Housing's Women and Family Violence Portfolios.

In this role you will:

  • Provide leadership using a feminist leadership approach to the Coordinator, Team Leader & staff, and oversee the activities of all staff at the East St Kilda site to ensure the provision of consistent and high-quality services
  • Ensure the appropriate supervision and performance development of East St Kilda staff, in accordance with relevant Launch Housing policies and procedure; and compliance with all Launch Housing policies, procedures and relevant practices, as well as aligning with relevant legislative, regulatory and policy requirements
  • Ensure a consistent, compliant and best-practice approach to case management at East St Kilda, supporting the improvement of case management and consistency in practices across crisis services
  • Establish operational procedures which impact on activities undertaken and outcomes achieved by the East St Kilda team for the organisation and the sections of the community we serve
  • Manage all critical incidents and other risks that arise at the facility in accordance with Launch Housing policy and DFFH requirements
  • Support a culture and program of continuous improvement, provide direction to ensure the and support a high-performance culture focused on client outcomes and impact, and the wellbeing of staff

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification and substantial experience in client facing human services, social work or other relevant discipline, with a preference for an understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context and systems
  • Program or service coordination/management experience within the community and/or public sectors
  • Understanding of Feminist Leadership approach
  • Understanding and knowledge of Family Violence & Gender-based violence and the impact on the client cohort LH & the East St Kilda Women's only Crisis Accommodation supports
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of high-quality initial assessment, planning and prioritisation programs 
  • Sound people leadership skills, experience in managing staff and striving for consistency in performance and behaviour

Special Conditions:

  • Launch Housing is relying on exceptions contained in sections 28, 60 and 88 of the EO Act to employ and accommodate women only at this site
