The Banyule Community Health Wellbeing and Support Team are looking for a passionate and suitably qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Medication Support and Recovery Service (MSRS).

The CNS will play a valuable role in supporting clients to address their substance use and will work closely with the MSRS counsellor as well as the clients' GP and wider care team.

Key skills:

  • Ability to provide comprehensive clinical assessment & treatment plans that include detailed withdrawal recommendations and care coordination for clients presenting with concerns regarding pharmaceutical/medication use and co-occurring substance use.
  • Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical overdose, including clinical risk assessment and management, overdose awareness, pharmacotherapy treatment options and harm reduction principles.
  • Strong communications skills (written and verbal) and an ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated provision of relevant, up-to-date and evidence based medical advice and support to clients' and their treating team.

Experience required:

  • Extensive experience in the Drug and Alcohol sector - providing treatment & support for clients of differing levels of complexity is critical to this role.
  • Demonstrated provision of relevant, up-to-date and evidence-based medical advice and support to clients and their treating team.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing respectful, non-judgemental and empathetic care to people with substance use concerns and co-occurring conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with GPs and other Health Care providers to support them to administer Medication related treatment plans.
