about the role

The Coordinator Volunteering is a new strategic role in the People and Culture Team providing hands-on support to Program and Service Teams, in particular - Community Programs and Wellbeing Services. The Coordinator Volunteering will provide volunteer recruitment, screening, compliance, training, recognition and exit support to volunteer supervisors across BCH programs and services. With assistance from IT and People and Culture, the Coordinator will acquire and implement a Better Impact Volunteer database, provide database training support to BCH volunteer supervisors, and manage the central database ensuring compliance of all volunteer records with BCH screening requirements. The coordinator will also advise on volunteer workforce development opportunities.

This role requires flexibility, proactive risk management and lived experience of volunteer management. The ability to form strong working relationships with all stakeholders (including current volunteer coordinators, volunteers, community members and BCH leadership) will be crucial to the success of this role. Extensive knowledge of diverse volunteer programs and principles and the National Standards for Volunteer will ensure a robust, lively and best practice volunteer program for BCH volunteers and the BCH community.

Who are we looking for?

Your passion - you care about the opportunities volunteering can offer both individuals and the community and have extensive knowledge of volunteer principles and experience developing volunteer programs in the community sector. Your ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholder groups will be key to this role and you care about providing a welcoming, responsive and flexible approach to your work.

Your attributes - you are highly accountable and service-oriented; have high-level interpersonal skills; are efficient and detail-oriented, a proactive problem-solver and risk manager with a continual improvement approach to your work.

What you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in community development, social work or health-related field desired
  • Working knowledge and experience of developing and implementing volunteer programs in the community sector
  • Working knowledge of the National Standards of Volunteering
  • Volunteer database usage is highly regarded
