Bipolar Australia is the only national not-for-profit organisation exclusively dedicated to bipolar disorders. Our work benefits people impacted by the condition, including sufferers, their carers, professionals, and the community at large.

The Role

General Manager (Volunteer) to coordinate day-to-day operations including:

• promoting awareness of the bipolar disorders
• awareness campaigns such as celebrating ‘World Bipolar Day’
• fundraising and grant applications
• engaging consultants to develop a sustainable business model
• marketing and social media
• establishment of support groups and training programs for group facilitators
• publishing and distributing our educational resources
• developing webinars, online courses, conferences, presentations and other educational programs and instructional material
• publication of bipolar-specific information in our website
• engaging with other mental health organisations
• attending meetings with, reporting to, and advising the organisation’s founder (retiring CEO), the Board of Directors and Advisory Committees

ABOUT YOU

The position requires a person:

• with an interest, understanding and/or experience in mental health and community services, including people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background;

• skilled and experienced in the management of the day-to-day operations of a business, with an emphasis in the areas of sponsorship, marketing and fundraising;

• with a positive approach to the wellbeing of people with bipolar and supportive of, and committed to the objectives of Bipolar Australia; and

• good communication skills.

Location & Time Required

While our organisation’s “head office” is our founder’s home in West Ryde, NSW, these days all work (including meetings) is done electronically, allowing our General Manager to work remotely, preferably based in Sydney or surrounding regional areas.

The position has no specific time allocated. The General Manager will need to devote the time necessary to effectively coordinate the organisation’s operations.
