The Bower is a purpose driven environmental charity that seeks to protect and enhance the natural environment and in doing so improve the welfare and wellbeing of disadvantaged and vulnerable members of society. We focus on preventing waste generation and diverting waste from landfill. The Bower raises awareness of the value of waste avoidance and reduction through resource recovery, repair, reuse, recycling and education.

The Bower's Administration Officer will provide administrative support to the Senior Management Team (SMT). Liaison with external parties (e.g. Accountant, colleges, facilitators and IT contractors), will also be an important part of this role. You will be responsible for managing the business systems, office procedures and essential technology and have a sound knowledge of Microsoft suite and Office 365. Reception duties will include an exceptional phone manner and monitoring email systems to refer and respond to incoming enquires.

The Administration Officer will require sound financial administration skills with a knowledge of various forms of software applications and/or a demonstrated familiarity with software systems and an ability to learn new systems. e.g. Xero, Stripe, Filemaker, alongside an understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

In support of the SMT the Administration Officer will provide end of month reports, undertake cash handling and banking, oversee stocktake for Consignments, support grants funding acquittals and work with team members to organise the bookings and delivery of face to face and on-line courses and repair cafe's across multiple sites.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Business Administration, finance or similar
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in retail sector and maintaining stock control records
  • Experience in managing facilitators and bookings for short courses
  • Knowledge of vintage and the second hand sector
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timeframes

What The Bower Provides:

  • Permanent Full Time contract (38 hours pw) with a 6 month probationary period.
  • Pay rates according to Clerks - Private Award [MA000002] Level 3 and negotiable for above award level skills and experience.
  • 20% staff discount on purchases of stock (excluding consignment).
  • Access to Bower workshops and tools (pending completion of competency appraisal).

Applicants may be required, on occasion, to work outside normal Monday - Friday business hours. A NSW Police Check will be required before commencing in this role. The successful applicant will be reimbursed for the cost of the Police Check.
