We have an opportunity for a legal professional to join our team as our Principal Legal Officer. In this role you will manage and supervise the legal operations of CLCAC under the direction from the CEO.

Working together, you will ensure the CLCAC carries out its functions and responsibilities as a native title representative body in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Native Title Act 1993. This includes setting priorities for work, overseeing litigation, mediation, and commercial negotiations, appearing in courts and other legal forums, and managing budgets as a member of CLCACs Management team.

The essential skills and experience we require for this role include:

  • Admitted (or eligible to be admitted) as a legal practitioner in Queensland;
  • At least three years post-admission experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and preparing reports for government agencies;
  • Previous experience in managing and developing a multi-skilled professional team and a large, diverse workload;
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to working with Aboriginal people to achieve their land aspirations and objectives;
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the capacity to liaise effectively with senior management personnel;

A willingness to travel to remote areas with a current C class driver's license is essential.
